My name is Chris D’Esposito. I graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a BS degree in Computer Science at a time when smart phones were something you would only see in James Bond films and the World Wide Web was still being developed which would one day change everyday life as we now know it. I’ve been directly involved in the technology industry for the majority of my life and continually strive to learn as the next “big thing” comes around.
I started a small business as a custom software developer for local businesses to manage their books, retail transactions, inventory, orders, vendors and other business needs. At the request of customers I branched out into hardware sales/support, network services and training users on computers. During the late 1990’s businesses began to see the advantage of having a web presence as part of their overall marketing marketing plans and so I began to learn how to design websites.
By 2003 I had been designing e-commerce sites and an opportunity presented itself to partner in a marketing company that was being formed by some very well known marketing guru’s Dan Kennedy and Bill Glazer. So, in October of 2004 my partners and I officially opened the Glazer-Kennedy Webstore (as a part of DanKennedy.com initially) and it became an overnight success with small and medium size businesses relying on it as an indispensable resource for all things marketing.
My inner marketer had awakened.
It wasn’t until I began working with Dan Kennedy and Bill Glazer that I realized how much I had to learn about marketing and how I could apply their “offline”, or direct marketing, methods to the online web world. Working daily with these masters of marketing I was able to use my technical expertise as a foundation to apply the marketing fundamentals and techniques I was learning while “in the trenches” with our webstore. I earned my “doctorate”, I guess you can say, by working alongside the brightest minds in the business and absorbing their methods and techniques for:
- lead generation
- customer retention
- and so much more
In addition to my partners Bill and Dan, I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to partner with and work with some of the most respected names in the world of marketing including Yanik Silver, Jeff Walker, Ryan Deiss, Perry Marshall, Jim Edwards and many others on the “Who’s Who” list of marketers. I am grateful for the opportunities I was provided to learn directly from working with them as I did with Dan Kennedy and Bill Glazer.
One of the common threads with all of these marketers and one of the biggest “takeaways” for me was this simple 3 step process:
- ANALYZE DATA AND MAKE ADJUSTMENT FOR IMPROVEMENT
- GO TO STEP 1
Test, modify for improvement then rinse and repeat. A system of steady continual improvement. That’s what the best marketers in the world do and it’s what I try to teach people I consult with. It sounds simple (and it is once you learn how to do it properly!) but it’s surprising how many people don’t (or worse yet, won’t) do it.
Look, we’ve all been there: we think that we know what our clients, customers, prospects want and need, but until we’ve actually tested our message and have analyzed the data to back it up we might as well just throw a dart with our eyes closed and hope to have it stick to our target. I don’t know about you but I would rather make decisions based on actual results. Testing and analyzing the results of your tests and implementing small changes to improve the conversion is critical to your business success. Testing is a MAJOR part of any marketing campaign, for both online and direct (offline) marketing.
I now consult on a very limited basis with select individuals and companies that want strategies, tips and advice on taking their internet marketing to the ‘next level’.
If you are the type of person that:
- Wants results,
- You’re a “do-er” (not afraid to get your hands dirty and get it done)
- You’re tired of blindly “throwing darts” hoping to hit the target
- Is ready to implement successful, proven strategies to improve your business
… then you and I could work really well together!
